WETFLAG Checker - Instructions

What is it?

I have written a basic tool that calculates emergency paediatric drug doses using weight calculations based on age and the WETFLAG mnemonic.

Quick Links
  • I want to use my web browser - click here and save to home page

Some important points about the app
  • Use at at your own risk - please ensure you also do your own calculations and refer to the latest resuscitation guidelines
  • This app is devleoped by myself; I have no connection to the ALSG and I make no claims that it is up to date to their latest guidelines
  • This script uses the 2010 ALSG APLS Formulas to calculate weight from age namely
    • 0-12 months: (0.5 x age) + 4
    • 1 - 5 years: (2 x age) + 8
    • 6 - 12 years: (3 x age ) + 7
  • The WETFLAG values are derived from 2010 APLS values
    • For ages above 12 years or for weights above 44kg the values for the WETFAG formula are based on the reuscitation council's paediatric emergency sheet
    • For ages in months above 12 months, this script always rounds down to the nearest year and then calculates weight; therefore a child of 23 months is assumed to be 1 year of age
    •  If weight is used as an input, ET size and length is not calculated
    • ET size is calculated raw to decimal place and not to the nearest 0.5
